ABOUT PASTOR MARIE DUQUETTE

Pastor Marie Duquette is a 2003 graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary and will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of her ordination on 13 July.  She has a degree in journalism from Eastern Michigan University and maintains a blog entitled “Take Off Your Shoes” at Marinawell.com

Marie’s first call was to a mission congregation in Baltimore, Ohio.  In her seven years with Faith Lutheran Church, Marie helped spearhead the building of a church sanctuary.

During her tenure, she more than tripled the worship attendance. At her second call, First English Lutheran Church, of Asheville, Ohio, she shepherded a church that recently celebrated its 125thanniversary. She has enjoyed the differences and similarities found in a brand new congregation and an older well-established one.

Marie enjoys a gift for preaching, pastoral care, and relating to people of all ages.  She is  particularly adept at relating to young children and teenagers, but has also enjoyed leading two bible studies for the elders in her congregation.  She has taken two separate groups of teens to New Orleans for the National Youth Gathering.

The gift of mercy has been attributed to Pastor Marie, who has often been called upon by funeral homes to provide comfort to families without pastors.  She has also provided grief counseling in the schools, following a student death.  With a leadership style described as open, diplomatic and direct, Marie’s recent studies include the art of Gospel storytelling and multi-generational faith formation.
