Hoover Student Arrested For Firearm Possession

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 15-year-old Hoover Middle School student today for the Possession of Firearm on School Property and Carrying a Concealed Firearm, according to Deputy Maria Fernez of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is currently being held at the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center.
Hoover Middle School Resource Officer Deputy Doyle received an anonymous tip that the student was carrying some type of weapon. Deputy Doyle took the student into custody after a search of the student’s backpack revealed an unloaded semi-automatic handgun.
The investigation is ongoing as to the motive for bringing the weapon to school and to determine how the juvenile obtained the weapon, according to Deputy Fernez.
