BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – NEWSFLASH: I-95 northbound is very slow and down to two lanes after a fatal crash, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue.
One person was killed when a vehicle traveling northbound on I-95, just north of the Lake Washington overpass, left the road and crashed into a wooded area at 3:55 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver left the road for an unknown reason when it traveled across the shoulder and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire and the driver died at the scene.
Due to the condition of the driver, positive identification will be determined by dental records before the name is released.
The resulting fire spread quickly to surrounding brush and threatened homes on Harlock Avenue in Melbourne, and a Melbourne Fire Department crew responded to a request for mutual aid provided protection for the homes.
The incident was described by officials as a single vehicle crash, and Brevard County Fire Rescue has confirmed one fatality.
Firefighters are currently dealing with a magnesium fire which is slowing efforts to douse the blaze.
