BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Commission gave Stockton Whitten a 4-1 vote of confidence yesterday as they affirmed current Brevard County Manager Howard Tipton’s succession plan that would make Whitten the county’s new manager when Tipton retires in October 2014.

Tipton, 55, has been the county manager since 2009.

Brevard County Commissioner Trudie Infantini was the lone dissenting vote, saying that it was unnecessary to have both Tipton and Whitten in the same job until October of next year, and that it was not in the best interest of the taxpayer.
