BREVARD, COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard County, in partnership with its trash hauler, Waste Management, introduces a new curbside cart collection program for garbage and recycling services for unincorporated Brevard County residents.
The curbside cart collection program will start on Sept. 30. Residents of the unincorporated areas can expect delivery of the new 64-gallon garbage cart and 64-gallon recycling cart between Aug. 1 and Sept. 27.
An informational brochure will be attached to the new carts as well as a listing of the items that can be recycled in the recycling cart. Garbage carts will have green lids and recycling carts will have yellow lids.
“These wheeled carts are more convenient for the customer and allow for greater service efficiency,” said Hillary Arena, Recycling Coordinator for Brevard County.
AUTOMATED COLLECTION SYSTEM
Brevard’s current Solid Waste Collection Contract expires Sept. 30. The Brevard County Commission decided to move forward with implementing an automated collection system for garbage and recycling after reviewing proposals for the new contract, which will run from Oct. 1, 2013, through Sept. 30, 2020.
“Since the new cart program requires an Automated Side Loader Truck for collection, it is important residents do not use their new carts until the program begins on Sept. 30 when the trucks will have the correct equipment,” Arena said.
Brevard County is also offering presentations to homeowner’s associations and other groups that may be interested in receiving more details about the program.
