Former Titan Jordan Looks For First Big League Win

Jordan Takes the hill against Phils Tonight
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA – Taylor Jordan, who pitched for one season at Brevard Community College, now known as Eastern Florida State College, is pitching in Major League Baseball for the Washington Nationals.
Jordan, 24, who pitched for then-BCC head coach Ernie Rosseau in 2009, is scheduled to make his third big league start against the Philadelphia Phillies on tonight. He is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA over 10 innings against the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. He has struck out four and walked two.
Jordan is among more than 80 former Titans players to be drafted by a big league team dating back to 1967.
The Merritt Island High graduate made his big league debut at New York’s Citi Field against the Mets on June 29, pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and three runs, two of them unearned, to take the loss.
Against the Brewers on July 4, Jordan pitched 5 2/3 innings, surrendering six hits and two, both earned. He struck out three and hit a batter.
Prior to his Nationals debut Jordan, a righthander, pitched in the minors this season for Single-A Potomac, where he was 2-1 with a 1.24 ERA in six starts, and Double-A Harrisburg where he had a 0.83 ERA in nine games.
UNDERWENT TOMMY JOHN SURGERY IN 2011
The Nationals drafted Jordan in the ninth round of the 2009 amateur draft after he helped pitch BCC to the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference tournament.
Jordan’s career hasn’t been without its challenges. He underwent Tommy John ligament replacement surgery in his elbow in 2011. But he rebounded from the surgery and the arduous rehabilitation to earn his big league shot.
