Sheriff’s Office Nails Boat Motor Theft Suspects

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, with support from the Aviation Unit, arrested two burglary suspects last night around 10 p.m., according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Responding to a report of a burglary in progress at Atlantic Self Storage located at 4660 U.S. 1 in Melbourne, Deputies and the Aviation Unit arrived and discovered two outboard boat motors, valued at approximately $10,000 each, were in the process of being stripped.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies were able to immediately capture two suspects as they attempted to flee on foot: Elio Enrique Lleo Mayea, 49, of Hialeah; and Jorge Luis Cabrera, 33, of Palm Bay,

SERIAL THEFT SUSPECTS

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office investigators determined that the group traveled from the Miami area to Brevard County on several occasions to conduct surveillance for potential burglary locations.

Based on that information, the suspects are also believed to be connected to outboard motor thefts that occurred on May 5 and June 28 – also at Atlantic Self Storage. On each of those occasions the suspects were able to get away undetected after the burglary and theft.

After further investigation, it was determined that the suspects committed an additional burglary and outboard motor theft just prior to committing the theft at Atlantic Self Storage last night.
