Boca Raton Woman Killed In I-95 Accident Near Scottsmoor

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Gilda Abolafia, 77, of Boca Raton, Florida, was killed early this morning when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree after veering off I-95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver of the car, Murray Abolafia, 78, also of Boca Raton, was driving a 2012 Toyota south on I-95 at about 3:30 a.m. this morning, and for unknown reasons, traveled off the roadway just south of Scottsmoor onto the west grass shoulder and entered the tree line where the front of the car struck a large tree.

Murray Abolafia was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Gilda Abolafia was taken to Parrish Medical Center, where she died. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

This crash remains under investigation.
