BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech will have two televised games in its inaugural season this fall as the Panthers will play West Georgia on regional television, announced by the Gulf South Conference on Thursday.

The game, previously scheduled for Nov. 2, will now occur Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Carrollton, Ga.

The Panthers’ first televised game will be on the national stage, CBS Sports Network, Sept. 19 against fellow GSC member West Alabama.

The contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium. It will mark FIT’s first-ever GSC match-up on the gridiron and the first NCAA Division II football game in the state of Florida.

“Anytime we can promote the Florida Tech brand in communities that might not be familiar with our institution is positive,” head coach Steve Englehart said.

“For us to play on national TV and follow that up with a regional TV game is going to be great for a first-year program. We’re honored to play against a solid team in West Georgia.”

The GSC game, which pits the Panthers against the Wolves, is one of 12 telecasts in the GSC-TV LIVE Game of the Week schedule. “We are delighted to continue our GSC-TV LIVE initiative,” GSC Commissioner Nate Salant said.

“We were the first conference in the entire NCAA to retain its broadcasting rights and create its own network, and we are again upping the total number of telecasts.

The 12 confirmed games is one more than last year’s record of 11. Our CEOs have bought into the recruiting and publicity advantages that regular telecasts brings into more than 11,000,000 households (70,000,000 when ESPN3 and ESPN Game Plan join in), and we think it’s one of the things that make the GSC special.”

GSC-TV LIVE affiliates include Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS), Mediacom, Alabama Cable Network (ACN), TV-24 in Anniston, Ala. and CoxSports (CST). ESPN3 and ESPN Game Plan coverage is expected, but complete availability will be announced later this week.
