BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech Panthers took the field for the first time in 2013, as they traveled to face the Hatters of Stetson in an exhibition match Sunday night.

After trailing early, the Panthers were able to even the game, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Stetson was able to take an early lead in the first half. A shot by Gianluca Carbone found the back of the net off an assist by Raffaele Centofanti 11:39 into the game.

The Panthers tried to even the score when freshman Jack Willison put a shot on goal, but Stetson goalie Andreas Schnabl made the save. After 45 minutes of action, the Hatters took a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

1-1 IN FINAL MINUTES

After having their first few shots in the second half turned away, the Panthers tied the game up at 1-1 in the 60th minute. Senior Joe Barber sent the ball into the box, and junior Drake Hillman put the shot past Schnabl to even the match.

\The Panthers took 14 shot with six being on goal during the match while the Hatters took eight with three on goal. The Panthers had three players receive yellow cards while Stetson had one player booked.

Both teams had chances to break the deadlock in the second half, but neither squad could get the go-ahead goal, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Panthers will now look towards opening their regular season on Sept. 7 when they host Georgia Southwestern. That match will kick off at 2 p.m. at Rick Stottler Field.
