Big Game On Today For Eastern Florida Men’s Soccer

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Riding the crest of a two-game winning streak including an upset of then nationally second-ranked Darton College on Sept. 6, Eastern Florida State College’s men’s soccer team makes its home field debut at 7 p.m. Saturday against Broward College.
Admission is free to the game on the Melbourne Campus.
The matchup is the first of three between the Florida College System Activities Association/NJCAA Region 8 foes to determine who advances to the postseason.
“The Saturday night game is the biggest game of the season so far,” Eastern Florida head coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. “It’s the start of a new rivalry that I hope will produce some great games and moments to remember.

“The lads are prepared and excited to put in an impressive performance. We are focused on taking a huge step towards winning the region and getting our first region victory.”
Eastern Florida’s Titans are 3-1 and ranked 12th nationally by the NJCAA and 13th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in their first season as a program. The Titans beat Mississippi Gulf Coast 4-0, lost to then nationally 17th-ranked San Jacinto (TX) 3-1, both in Mississippi, and then beat Darton 4-3 and Middle Georgia 3-0.
Broward defeated Hinds Community College 2-0 and Pearl River Community College 2-1, and tied Mississippi Gulf Coast 2-2. All three games were in Mississippi.
Heading into the Broward game three Titans — freshmen Jordan Muir, Alejandro Diaz and Justin Gavin — share the team lead in goals with two each. Muir leads with three assists.
Freshman goalkeeper Jorge Madera has allowed three goals and recorded nine saves in 270 minutes. Classmate Justin Walker has one save in 90 minutes.
Eastern Florida has 56 shots, 34 on goal, to 28 and 11 for its opponents.
