Eastern Florida Volleyball Splits Tournament Matches

Titans Play Johnson University tomorrow night

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College’s volleyball team split two matches on Saturday’s final day of the South Florida State College tournament in Avon Park.

Eastern Florida fell 18 25, 17-25, 18-25 to St. Johns River State College but rebounded to defeat South Florida State College 25-18, 17-25, 26-24, 15-25, 15-7.

Eastern Florida is 7-15 on the season. It returns home to play Johnson University, Florida at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Melbourne Campus gym. The Titans have swept Johnson University twice this season, both times in Kissimmee.

Eastern Florida then travels to Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference foe Indian River State College for a 6 p.m. Thursday match.

The Titans wrap up the week by hosting nationally fourth-ranked Hillsborough Community College and the Webber International junior varsity at 2 and 6 p.m. respectively on Friday.

The Titans lost to Webber in five sets on Sept. 7.

Hillsborough is the highest-ranked opponent to visit Eastern Florida during head coach Herb Tokumoto’s five-year tenure.

Eastern Florida’s next conference home match is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 against Palm Beach State.
