Titans play Broward College at home Sept. 24

ABOVE VIDEO: The Eastern Florida State College Titans competed as Brevard Community College until the institution changed its name on July 1, 2013. The 2013 fall season is the team’s first as the Eastern Florida Titans.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College’s volleyball team jumps right back into Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference play this week with road matches at Palm Beach State College on Tuesday and defending conference champion Miami Dade College on Thursday.

Statistically for Eastern Florida freshman Mariah Davis leads the team with 71 kills while classmate Arianna Bethel has 63. Davis also leads in digs with 61.
Eastern Florida’s next home match is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 against conference foe Broward College. Admission is free.

Both matches begin at 6 p.m. for Eastern Florida which is 0-1 in conference and 4-10 overall.

Palm Beach is 0-1 in conference and 0-6 overall, having been swept in five of its six defeats. Miami is 2-0 in conference and 7-3 overall, with its losses to North Idaho, Salt Lake Community College and College of Southern Idaho.

Miami Dade has won six straight matches — five of them in straight sets — and visits Indian River State College on Tuesday.

Through 13 matches freshmen Mariah Davis and Arianna Bethel were leading Eastern Florida in kills with 101 and 79 respectively.

Sophomore Taylor Gembecki had 220 assists and sophomore Alana Nielander had 100 digs. Sophomore Micaela Vowinkel had 35 blocks while Bethel had 33.

Eastern Florida’s next home match is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 against conference foe Broward College. Admission is free.
