GAME CAPSULES & PREDICTIONS

OKEECHOBEE @ HERITAGE
Okeechobee got its first win of the season last week and hopes to pull a major upset. Heritage, who is the favorite to win the district, is a team that already looks playoff-ready. Too much speed, too much Dedric Witherspoon, and too much Josh Gaines. Heritage rolls in this one by a wide margin.
KEY PLAYERS: Heritage – Clinton Moxam (Sr. QB), Josh Gaines (So. RB), Dedric Witherspoon (Sr. ATH). Okeechobee – Eddie Neal (Sr. ATH).
PREDICTION: Heritage 38, Okeechobee 7

OVIEDO (4-0) @ MERRITT ISLAND (4-0)
Merritt Island, currently 4-0, must now deal with Oviedo and UCF commit, dual-threat QB Chris Davis. Both teams come in undefeated and Merritt Island will need Boston College commit Ty Schwab and Company to contain Davis to pull the upset. Oveido averages 33 points a game, and only gives up 13, so Merritt Island will need to rely on its strong defense to slow them down.
KEY PLAYERS: Merritt Island – Ty Schwab (Sr. LB), Shaq Jones (Sr. ATH), Johnny Batch (Sr. DB). Oviedo – Chris Davis (Sr. ATH), Mike Davis (So.,DB), Jarvis Green (Jr. LB), Jurell Green (Jr. RB).
PREDICTION: Merritt Island 17, Oviedo 14

COCOA (2-1) @ HERNANDO (1-2)
It looks like Cocoa has figured out its offense and has opened it up for Freshman QB Bruce Judson. Judson last week rushed for a TD and threw for two more as Cocoa dominated American Heritage. This new offense does not bode well for Hernando who gives up 23 points a game. Look for Freddy Booth-Lloyd and the Cocoa Defense to take control early as Cocoa rolls in this one.
KEY PLAYERS: Cocoa – Freddy Booth-Lloyd (Sr. DT), Jamel Dean (Jr. ATH), Bruce Judson (Fr. QB). Hernando – Ra’shaad Hart (Sr.RB).
PREDICTION: Cocoa 35, Hernando 0

FATHER LOPEZ (1-3) @ MELBOURNE CENTRAL CATHOLIC (3-0)
The only thing that has slowed the Melbourne Central Catholic Offense this season was a Bye week. Father Lopez comes into this matchup struggling to find points and wins this season. Look for receivers Max Erdman and Austin Perlman to run wild in the secondary.
KEY PLAYERS: MCC – Max Erdman (Jr. WR), Austin Perlman (Jr. WR), Brandon Ziarno (Jr. QB). Father Lopez – Joe Boden (Sr.QB), Justin Bryant (Sr. FB).
PREDICTION: MCC 44, Father Lopez 7

BAYSIDE (3-0) @ FT. PIERCE WESTWOOD (0-3)
Ft.Pierce Westwood average 63.3 yards a game and that wont get it done against Bayside. A swarming defense as well as a balanced attack gives Bayside a considerable advantage in this one. Averaging 147 yards passing and 144 yards rushing Bayside will have its way against the struggling Panthers.
KEY PLAYERS: Bayside – William Harrell (Sr.RB), Lucious McKay (Sr.ATH), Johnie Wainscott (Jr. WR).
PREDICTION: Bayside 40, Ft.Pierce Westwood 0

PALM BAY (3-2) @ TREASURE COAST (2-1)
Palm Bay has not given up a score since its close loss to Heritage, and they look like a motivated team. Linebackers Twonnie Pollard and Stephon Williams are playing behind the line of scrimmage and will cause havoc for Treasure Coast. Look for Palm Bay to roll in this one.
KEY PLAYERS: Palm Bay – Stephon Williams (Jr. LB), Alex Jasmin (Sr. DB),Sekai Lindsey (Jr. RB), Reggie Benjamin (Sr. RB). Treasure Coast – Sean Bowens (Sr.LB), Digwon Harris (Sr.RB).
PREDICTION: Palm Bay 30, Treasure Coast 7

VIERA (4-0) @ ASTRONAUT (2-2)
Each team in the match up come into this game having two different types of seasons. Astronaut has lost two in a row and are hoping to get things turned around, while Viera is having the greatest season in school history. Currently 4-0 and ranked #11 in 7A, Viera is proving a lot of the doubters wrong this season. Great play from young players has the future looking bright in Hawk Nation. Astronaut, looking to get back on track, will need Tez Keels and J.T Hassell to right the ship. If Viera can pull the upset, this game could prove that the the Hawks are for real.
KEY PLAYERS: Astronaut – Tez Keels (Sr. ATH), J.T Hassell (Sr. DE). Viera – Tre Nixon (So. WR), Devin Nixon (Jr. ATH), Cody Dentmon (Sr. QB)
PREDICTION: Astronaut 28. Viera 24

MELBOURNE (2-2) @ CENTENNIAL (1-2)
Melbourne rebounded after losing two in a row with a dominating performance against Eau Gallie last week. Centennial is coming off a bye week and hoping the extra time to prepare for Melbourne’s rushing attack will help pull the upset. Melbourne will dominate in this one.
KEY PLAYERS: Melbourne – Dwane Robinson (Sr. QB), Bryson Hill (Sr. RB). Centennial – Greg Green (Sr. RB), Jarid Ellis (Jr. QB).
PREDICTION: Melbourne 35, Centennial 6
