K-9 Koda Growing Like a Weed
ABOVE VIDEO: Sheriff Wayne Ivey introduces “Koda,” the name chosen for the 9-week old Bloodhound pup, and newest member of the Brevard County Sheriff Department K-9 Unit.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As I travel around the county I am often asked about how “Koda” our Bloodhound is doing, so I thought it would be great to provide everyone a little update on Koda’s progress and training.
If you recall, “Koda” is the newest member of our K-9 Family that we named through a contest on FaceBook.
Koda is growing like a weed (as you can tell by the photo at right) and continues to develop with his handlers and K-9 partners toward becoming an independent member of our K-9 Search Team that is facilitated by members of our Corrections Team.
Koda not only trains to search for missing children and persons but is also a valued member of our Community Relations Team as he is always a crowd favorite at the various events he attends with us.
The picture below of Koda as a pup shows just how much he has grown since joining our agency in April.
Just so you know, the plan is that every time I see Koda at an event I pick him up to show how big he is getting.
From the looks of today’s photo he is fast growing out of that plan and may actually be picking me up before too long.
Okay who am I kidding…he is never going to get that big, but he is growing pretty quick.
