BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Three masked subjects carrying handguns entered S&S Jewelers located at 209 N. Babcock Street in Melbourne (map above) this afternoon and ordered the patrons and staff members to the floor, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

There were no injuries reported and it does not appear any property was taken, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

The subjects quickly rummaged through the store and then fled in a dark-colored Chrysler, which was possibly occupied by another person, according to witnesses.

The responding officers noticed smoke coming from a nearby apartment complex and discovered a vehicle on fire that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the robbery.

A check of the vehicle registration revealed it was previously reported stolen.Melbourne police department detectives and evidence technicians were called to both scenes and are actively continuing the investigation.
