2013 Humanitarians Selected, Gala Set For Nov. 7

ABOVE VIDEO: Candlelighters of Brevard, which is dedicated to children with cancer and their families by offering emotional support and financial assistance, is among the organizations that has been honored as a Central Florida Humanitarian organization.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Since 2007, Space Coast Medicine & Active Living magazine has had the distinct honor and pleasure of identifying and featuring many members of our community who are dedicated to helping others.

The Central Florida Humanitarian Awards were created to recognize these outstanding individuals and organizations that dedicate their Time, Talent or Treasure to help people in need locally – and around the world.

For the fourth consecutive year, we will once again produce the 2013 Central Florida Humanitarian Awards Gala on the first Thursday of November. This year, more than 40 deserving humanitarians will be honored during the Gala, which will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Melbourne, Florida.

2013 CENTRAL FLORIDA HUMANITARIAN HONOREES INCLUDE:

Organizations and Individuals include Brevard Achievement Center, Aging Matters in Brevard, Health First Foundation, Doctors Goodwill Foundation, Serene Harbor, The Viera Company, The M.O.R.G.A.N Project, KLD Kids, Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine, Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter, Herman and Joyce Cole, Martha Sinclair, Suzie and Tom Wasdin, Jim and Jonnie Swann, Marilyn Scott, Jim and Darleen Barfield, Ina Brown, Lily Renzetti, Christina Datta and Cardiac Team at Health First Holmes Regional Hospital, Debra Green and Space Coast Realtors, Florida Eye Associates, Shannon Wilson/Crosswinds, Jim and Mary Ann Loafman, Christine Lighthill, Edward Becht and Karan and Krunal Patel.

ALL HUMANITARIAN ALUMNI are presented a specially commissioned medallion to celebrate their dedication to making our community, and the world, a better place.

Life Time Achievement Honorees are Heidar Heshmati and Bill Potter. As always, we will honor the area’s incredible Hospice Volunteers from the Dr. Jey Pillai Center for Hospice Care at Wasdin Woods, Health First Hospice, VITAS and Hospice of St. Francis. Also, dedicated Hospital Volunteers will be recognized from Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital, Viera Hospital, Holmes Regional Medical Center and Palm Bay Hospital; Wuesthoff Medical Centers – Melbourne and Rockledge; and Sebastian River Medical Center.

The Central Florida Humanitarian Awards will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 as part of Space Coast Medicine Week. Each honoree or organization is presented the Central Florida Humanitarian Crystal Globe.
