A graduate of the University of South Florida, he has served Melbourne patients since 1985. He also served a 5 year appointment by President George Bush and HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson to the Medicare Program Advisory and Oversight Committee.

Dr. Vliegenthart is a fellowship trained Orthopedic surgeon with extensive surgical experience in Spine Surgery, Hand Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Trauma and Sports Medicine. He completed his Residency in Orthopedic and Hand Surgery at Cook County Hospital, Chicago Illinois. He has practiced Orthopedics in Melbourne since 1985. He also has served a 5 year appointment by President George Bush and HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson to the Medicare Program Advisory and Oversight Committee .

He now devotes his practice to diagnosis and treatment of Orthopedic Injury and Disease with emphasis on Non-Surgical treatment options and case management.

Dr. Vliegenthart is available for patients who desire an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon to sit down with them and listen to their concerns and who wish to receive an in depth and complete explanation of their Orthopedic condition. Dr. Vliegenthart enjoys evaluating both simple and complex cases and explaining all treatment options including both Surgical and Non-Surgical case management.
