Foosaner Art Museum Kicks Off Holidays Dec. 6

EVENT SET FOR DEC. 6 FROM 5:30 TO 7:30 P.M.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — In conjunction with the Eau Gallie Arts District Art Walk, the Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, will kick off the holiday season with an evening of festivities Friday, Dec. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Events will include the museum’s monthly Jazz Friday performance by Hafer House, holiday shopping in the museum’s gift shop and a holiday bazaar at the Renee Foosaner Education Center. The museum will also unveil its Victorian Doll House, part of the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Art’s doll collection. Admission is free and open to the public.

THE HAFER FAMILY TO PERFORM

The Hafer family will travel from Zephyrhills to perform their popular supper club-inspired jazz classics for this concert. Performers are Mike Hafer, piano; Lorri Hafer, vocals; Paul Hafer, bass; and Dave Dunscombe, drums. Refreshments, including beer and wine, will be available for purchase.

The Student Holiday Bazaar will feature unique gifts for sale made by Renee Foosaner Education Center students and instructors, including pottery, original paintings and more.

Ruth Funk’s one-of-a-kind antique Victorian Doll House is designed authentically for the period. Each room is different, with miniature dolls and made-to-scale furniture from the 1920s and 1930s. The dollhouse will be festively trimmed for the holiday season.

The Foosaner Art Museum is located at 1463 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and students with ID and free on Thursdays and always for Florida Tech faculty, staff and students with their ID.
