Lake-Sumter Tournament Next For EFSC Volleyball

Gembecki leads the team in assists with 450

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State’s volleyball team travel to Clermont for today’s Lake-Sumter State College Fall Classic Tournament.

Today, Eastern Florida, 9-19 on the season, plays Pasco-Hernando Community College (18-8) at 11:30 a.m., and nationally fourth-ranked Hillsborough Community College (25-2) at 3:30 p.m.

The Titans seek their second Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference victory at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Broward College in Davie in their conference finale.

They then travel to Babson Park to play Webber International’s junior varsity at noon on Saturday, Oct. 26 and bid farewell to their sophomores at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Polk State College in Melbourne. They complete their season at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at Daytona State College.

Statistically for the Titans sophomore Taylor Gembecki, who has played in a team-best 24 of 28 matches, leads the team in assists with 450 and is tied for third in digs with 123.

Classmate Alana Nielander leads in digs with 175 and freshman Mariah Davis is second with 124. Davis leads in kills with 180. Freshman Michelle Rodriguez leads in blocks with 49.

Nielander and classmate Sara Watkins share the team lead in service aces with 16 each.
