BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Today was the first event for our new Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse that is comprised of Reserve Deputies and Volunteers.

The team represented the Sheriff’s Office by participating in today’s Heritage Day Parade in West Melbourne.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse is one of the newest Sheriff’s Office programs that uses trained volunteers to assist in various aspects of law enforcement such as search and rescue, crowd control, patrol efforts, presentations, and special events.

I could not be more proud of the members of this team who not only volunteer their time to help our community but also supply their own horses and expenses.

I would like to give special recognition to Major Ken Willis and Sergeant Bobby Baker who worked diligently to make this team a reality and very useful program for our citizens.
