 BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA — A kidnapping suspect from Lakeland killed himself on I-95 after a chase that inolved the suspect shooting at cops and ultimately killing himself near mile marker 224 near SR 46.

BREAKING-NEWS-SCD-180-13South Daytona Police Department Chief Ronald Wright told News 13 that police officers noticed a suspicious vehicle around 3 a.m. and followed it on to I-95 South. According to Wright,  the suspect fired at police officers as they pursued him on I-95.

Officers learned of a bulletin from Lakeland regarding a woman’s kidnapping by her ex fiance. According to officers, the suspect dialed 9-11 where he made threats to kill the woman if the police didn’t stop following her.

According to investigators, the man stopped at a rest area where the woman was released and he killed himself.
