Two Games With Middle Georgia Loom For EFSC Soccer

ABOVE VIDEO: Eastern Florida State College added men’s soccer to its athletics lineup in Fall 2013, with the team getting off to an impressive start by reaching a game score of 9-1-1, as well as reaching a ranking of sixth nationally.
BREVARD COUNTY, FL – Eastern Florida State College’s men’s soccer team plays Middle Georgia State College twice in four days beginning Sunday.
The first game allows each team to send a message while the second game allows each team the opportunity to send the other packing.
Sunday’s 1 p.m. game on the Melbourne Campus is the regularly scheduled season finale for each team. Admission is free.
Wednesday’s 5 p.m. game in Cochran, GA is the first game in the NJCAA Division I playoffs where it’s win or go home, and turning the bus around quickly for a trip back south on Interstate 95 is not in the plans of Eastern Florida State College head coach Oliver Twelvetrees whose team is 9-1-1 and ranked sixth nationally.
3-0 VICTORY OVER MIDDLE GEORGIA
That’s why Sunday’s game while meaningless in one sense is vitally important in another.
Especially since Eastern Florida has already beaten Middle Georgia, that being a 3-0 victory on Sept. 7 at Darton College in Albany, GA.
“We’re going to approach Sunday just like we would any other game,” Twelvetrees said.
“We’re going to try to put out our best team and play our best and try to make Middle Georgia realize who the better team is.”
“Every time we step on the field we want to win, we want to be successful, we want to do the right thing.”

Middle Georgia was 3-9 heading into Wednesday’s game at Thomas University. Middle Georgia also plays at Broward College on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights have scored 21 goals while allowing 39 and have lost twice each to other Georgia teams that Eastern Florida has played.
Middle Georgia lost 1-0 and 7-4 to Darton and 5-2 and 6-2 to Georgia Perimeter.
EASTERN FLORIDA BEAT DARTON 4-3
Eastern Florida beat Darton 4-3 in Georgia and tied it 2-2 in Melbourne, both when the Cavaliers were ranked second nationally. Eastern Florida beat Georgia Perimeter 2-1.
Freshmen Andrew Preston and Levi Lewis share the Middle Georgia team lead with six goals each.
Freshman Jordan Muir leads Eastern Florida with nine goals and seven assists. Sophomore Johnathan Quintero has six goals including five in a 13-0 victory over Webber International’s junior varsity.
Quintero also has six assists. Freshman Justin Gavin leads Eastern Florida in assists with 10.
Eastern Florida has scored 41 goals while allowing 12. If the Titans beat Middle Georgia on Wednesday they will play in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Darton.
Semifinalists play in the Sunday, Nov. 3 title game to determine who advances to play the winner of the North Carolina-South Carolina district for the right to advance to the Nov. 18-23 NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship Tournament in Tyler, TX.
