Jackson named SSC Player of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech sophomore Corbin Jackson and junior Courtney Hueston have been named the Student Athletes of the Week for the period of Nov. 11–Nov. 17.

Jackson along with the men’s basketball team took on Assumption College (Mass.) last Friday inside the Clemente Center. Jackson led the team with a triple-double in the Panthers 78-72 victory over the Greyhounds in overtime.

The Rockledge, Fla. native scored 20 points to go with 15 rebounds, and 10 blocks. The 10 blocks for Jackson are the most for any Panther since the 1990-91 season.

For his play, Jackson was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Hueston and the women’s soccer team competed this past weekend in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Hueston scored what proved to be the game winning goal in a 1-0 victory over first round opponent Valdosta State. The Miami, Fla. native scored her goal in the 12th minute off an assist from Karley O’Brien.

The 2013 season for women’s soccer came to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Jackson and the men’s basketball team will take the floor inside the Clemente Center on Thursday when they host UPR-Bayamon out of Puerto Rico at 7:30 p.m. ET.
