BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Florida Tech Panthers picked up another Sunshine State Conference award on Monday, as sophomore goalkeeper Julia Kantor was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native returned from injury this past week and helped lead the Panthers to a pair of victories. The two wins also helped the Panthers earn a spot in the SSC Championships.
In two games last week, Kantor made 10 total saves and did not allow a goal in two shutouts. The clean sheets increased Kantor’s season total to seven on the season, and lowered her goals-against-average to 0.71.
Barry’s Lavina Nkomo was named the SSC Offensive Player of the Week. Kantor and the Panthers will travel to Saint Leo on Tuesday for a quarterfinal match in the SSC Women’s Soccer Championships.
The match gets underway at 7 p.m. ET at University Field in Saint Leo.
