Sheriff’s Office Arrests 100 In Domestic Violence Sweep

Operation RESULTS IN 2,581 TOTAL ARRESTS

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office participated in a statewide operation organized by the Florida Sheriff’s Association targeting domestic violence with a focus of protecting children.

As a result of “Operation Safe Families,” a 30-day effort, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office completed 100 arrests for charges relating to domestic violence.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RELATED CRIMES:

• Warrants for Domestic Violence
• Writs for Non-Support
• Violations of Domestic Violence Injunctions

Statewide, 33 Sheriff’s Offices participated in the operation, which resulted in a total of 2,581 arrests.

202 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DEATHS IN FLORIDA

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s 2012 Uniform Crime Report, 108,046 domestic violence offenses were reported to Florida law enforcement agencies, where 202 victims died as a result of the violence.
