Two Shot At Dixon and Amherst In Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police received several calls of shots fired around 3:40 p.m., according to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

The Cocoa Police received several calls of shots fired around 3:40 p.m., according to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

Cocoa Police responded to the area and witnesses directed officer to where they had last seen several males running from the area.

At this time, of the three people detained, one has been arrested. Police did recover a weapon and continue to look for those responsible for the shooting. Earlier police were able to gain entry into an apartment that witnesses told police they saw a possible suspect entering.

Although there was no one in the apartment, police were able to recover several weapons and are working to determine if they are related to this crime. Investigators and the Crime Scene tech will be on scene for at least another hour. This investigation is continuing.

Of the two people shot, the first was shot in the abdomen and taken by life flight to the hospital. The second was just grazed in his leg and hospital transport was not necessary.
