BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Fresh off the four-day Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational, Florida Tech swimmers Camille Bobiak and Camden Johnston were named Florida Tech’s Panther Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of Dec. 9-17 on Thursday.

Bobiak, a sophomore ocean engineering major from Middletown, R.I., notched personal bests in all four of her individual events.

She swam the 200-yard IM at a time of 2:24.88, the 100-yard butterfly at 1:03.84, the 200-yard butterfly at 2:33.58 and the 100-yard freestyle at 59.69.

Bobiak also helped her relay team of Kristen Jones, Faryn Duff and Evelyn Stein finish the 800-yard freestyle relay at a mark of 8:33.45.

Johnston, a freshman chemical engineering major from Floyd Knobs, Ind., registered personal bests in the 400-yard IM and 200-yard breastroke.

In the 400-yard IM, he placed fourth in the prelims at 4:06.21 and followed that up with a fifth-place finish in the ‘A’ Final at 4:06.90.

In the 200-yard breastroke on the last day, he touched the timing pad at 2:08.50 for fifth place in the prelims. A few hours later, he timed in at 2:09.63 for seventh place in the ‘A’ Final. He also swam in the ‘B’ Final of the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 1:55.64 for second place.

Bobiak, Johnston and the Panthers will race for the second time at the Panther Aquatic Center this season on New Year’s Day against Lewis University. Originally scheduled for an 11 a.m. start, the meet will begin at 2 p.m.
