BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Bennie Lamar Cintonz, 39, of Tennessee was struck and killed by a car last night around 9 p.m. near US 1 and East River Drive, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

The incident involved a 2007 Toyota Four Runner driven by Duanhui Chen, 49, of West Melbourne.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, the pedestrian was crossing US 1 from west to east, and did so in front of the Toyota that was south bound in the center lane of US 1.

Cintonz was struck by the left front of the Toyota and suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Chen was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation, according to authorities. Any charges stemming from this incident will be determined after a thorough investigation.STAY TUNED TO SPACECOASTDAILY.COM FOR UPDATES
