BREAKING-NEWS-SCD-180-13

UPDATE: According to Palm Bay Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez, officers responded to 894 Bianca St NE regarding a 911 hang up.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a male and female who were in a heated argument.  As officers attempted to speak with both parties, the male suspect retreated inside the residence and shut the door.  Upon speaking with the female, it was learned that the male suspect (live in boyfriend) had battered the female and threatened subjects inside the home with a steak knife.

The female was removed from the residence and attempts were made to contact the male which met with negative results.  During the attempts at communication, it was learned that there were four children inside the home (ranging from 13-17) who were then heard screaming inside the residence (reportedly just from being upset).  At that point, SWAT, CNT, and the Command Post Team were requested and responded to the scene.

After several hours of attempted contact inside the residence, all four children did exit and informed us that the male had ingested bleach in an attempt to kill himself.  After further attempts were made at communication, SWAT took action and was able to take the suspect into custody who did have what appeared as non-life threatening injuries which he had done himself.

The suspect is currently at PBER for medical clearance.
