Russel Johnson, the actor who played the Professor on “Gilligan’s Island,” died at age 89.
Johnson served in the Navy during World War II, where he was honored with a Purple Heart medal. Dawn Wells, the actress who played Mary Anne, and the four actresses who played Ginger the movie star: Kit Smythe, Constance Forslund, Judith Baldwin and Tina Louise are the only surviving cast member from the series.
