Carlos Lopez-Cantera Named Florida Lt. Governor

Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday named Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera as the state’s new lieutenant governor.

The appointment of Lopez-Cantera, a former state House majority leader, fills a job that has been vacant for 10 months.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi released this statement regarding Governor Scott”s choice for Lieutenant Governor.

“I am thrilled Governor Rick Scott selected Carlos Lopez-Cantera to serve as Lieutenant Governor. Just like Governor Scott, Lopez-Cantera is dedicated to the people of Florida, and together they will lead the state with strength and integrity.”

Florida House Majority Leader Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island, congratulated Lopez-Cantera on Twitter.

Crisafulli said:

“Congratulations to our new Lieutenant Governor [Carlos] Lopez-Cantera! I know you’ll be a great advocate for all of Florida.”
