Agents of the South Precinct General Crimes Unit have made an arrest in connection to an Armed Robbery of the Mobil Gas Station located at 4520 U.S. Highway 192 in West Melbourne, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department.

Last Thursday at about 6:40 p.m., deputies responded to an armed robbery where a masked suspect brandishing a firearm had entered the store, forcing several patrons into the bathroom.

He then then demanded money from the clerk and fled in an older model blue Chevrolet.

The 15-year-old suspect was arrested Monday afternoon by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the Armed Robbery in addition to the felony juvenile court order from Indian River County. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Detention Center.

A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that an individual in a blue Chevrolet had pointed a weapon at a pedestrian near the intersection of Hollywood and Palm Bay Roads. The victim of that incident was able to obtain the vehicle’s license plate. South Precinct Patrol deputies then located the blue Chevrolet in a subdivision off Sarno Road.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, evidence located in the car tied it to both the armed robbery and the Palm Bay incidents.

Investigators worked with the Sebastian Police Department and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, and it was determined that the vehicle was believed to have been taken by a 15-year-old runaway two days prior to the robbery.

South Precinct General Crimes agents developed probable cause for the arrest of the 15-year-old resident of Sebastian, who was also wanted in Indian River County on a felony and had been reported as a runaway by his mother.

Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to call CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
