EFSC Beats Indian River State, 13-8

Eastern Florida’s baseball team unlimbered its bats on Friday rapping out 16 hits en route to a 13-8 victory over Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference foe Indian River State College in Fort Pierce.
The victory moved Eastern Florida’s overall record to 18-8 and its conference record to 6-3. Indian River fell to 12-15 and 3-6.
The teams meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne Campus. Admission is free. Right hander Dulvis Borjas was the winning pitcher for Eastern Florida and sophomore righty Chayce Hubbard recorded the save.
Freshman Christian Diaz led the offensive assault going 3-for-6 with a home run and two runs batted in. Classmate Francisco Cruz went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Freshman Angel Soto went 1-for-3 with a grand slam for his four runs batted in.
Sophomore Jack Machonis went 1-for-5 with a home run; classmate J.J. Gould went 1-for4 with a home run; freshman Nick Capra went 2-for-4 and sophomore Austin Leeney 2-for-5 with an RBI. Indian River collected nine hits. Eastern Florida was guilty of three errors.
