FWC Officials Found More than 50 Spanish Mackeral Hidden in a Cooler at Skyway State Park Fishing Pier

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — The water temperature is rising and the Spanish mackerel fishing is good at the Skyway State Park Fishing Pier.

Officer Martinez was checking fish on the pier and saw two men standing next to a truck with a bucket of mackerel. They told our officer that they only had the fish in the bucket but Officer Martinez saw two coolers in the bed of the truck next to where the two men stood. The men said that the truck was theirs and when Officer Martinez checked inside the coolers, he found more Spanish mackerel! The total? 56 fish. The two men were charged with having 26 Spanish mackerel over the bag limit and the fish were returned to the water.
