BOB FREEMAN’S WEEKEND SURF REPORT

By  //  April 18, 2014

Good Morning, Surfers!

The combination of less wind and dropping tide could make for fun conditions today during the late afternoon for after school or after work surf sessions at your favorite surf spots.
Ocean water temperatures will average 70 degrees and could warm into the 72 degree range by Sunday. A spring suit or a vest may be all that is needed for an early morning surf session. (Image for SpaceCoastDaily.com)

SURF REPORT FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2014

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –  Surfers will have to deal with gusty, onshore winds and passing storms today.

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard's waves since 1966.

Friday’s forecast call for a steady groundswell-windswell mix will produce waves in the chest- to head-high range with very rough conditions from a strong southeasterly wind.

Saturday’s forecast looks more promising for better surfing conditions. Steady offshore winds will push away the windswell leaving nice clean groundswell lines in the chest-high range.

Sunday’s forecast calls for strong offshore winds from the northwest could reduce wave-heights into the waist-high range with very clean conditions.

Ocean water temperatures have dropped into the 68 degree range. A 3/2 fullsuit or springsuit may be required for Friday’s cloudy conditions. Vests may be all that is needed by Sunday.
