Joseph M. Eller Passed Away March 21

OBITUARY

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Joseph M. Eller was born in Washington, DC on May 12, 1933 to Bernard and Lillian Eller, and died on March 21, 2014. He was raised in Washington, DC and Arlington, Virginia; graduated from McKinley Tech in Washington, and the University of Virginia School of Engineering in 1956.

scd-obit-logo-180Joe served in the Air Force as a Lieutenant at Patrick Air Force Base, and after his military service, joined NASA in 1960, working at the start of the Space Program on Projects Mercury; continuing with Gemini, and Appollo. He retired from NASA in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara “Bobbie,” and children Marc (Judy), Micki (Zachary) Stern, and Amy (Mark) Beer; and six grandchildren, Shayna, Joshua, and Noah Stern, and Rachel, Debra, and David Eller; sister, Gloria Dye; niece, Susan, and nephew, Michael.

Joe has been a member of Temple Beth Sholom for 50 years. Burial took place in northern Virginia.
