Assists local cancer patients
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This Saturday, May 3, the Cancer Care Foundation will celebrate the 12th Annual Caring Hearts Benefit with the purpose of assisting local cancer patients undergoing treatments by paying for their basic living expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities and pain and cancer related medications.
This is so that they may place all their efforts in getting well by alleviating some of the stress associated with a diagnosis of cancer.
“Back in 2002, as the patient load increased, it became self-evident that we needed a signature event that would raise enough monies in order to never turn anyone away due to lack of funds,” said Marta Fiol.
“This idea came from one of our past board member Gary Wynberg, and it has been a real blessing to patients.”
The first two years it was held at different venues, but for the last nine years, the André family have graciously offered their stunning home as the host venue forthe event.
It is one of the most beautiful tropical settings in Brevard, and you will be surrounded by wonderful people whose mission is to help those suffering from this scourge, cancer, alleviating their rocky road a bit by keeping their homes and basic living expenses at bay.

ABOUT CANCER CARE CENTERS FOUNDATION
After many years of treating cancer, professionals caring for oncology patients recognized there was a need to help patients and cancer survivors by more than simply treating the disease.
There was a strong sense that more could be done to aid patients and their families through the process of treatment and survival. For seldom is the patient the only one undergoing a change.
Often, family, friends and co-workers are affected. Who is helping them through this process? Who is educating them about the disease and teaching them how to cope?
Out of this concern and desire to do more for his patients and their families, Dr. Silas Charles started the Cancer Care Centers Foundation (CCCF) in 1993.
Created as a non-profit organization, CCCF began providing comprehensive patient/family support services, community outreach and education.
In 2012 Dr. Silas was honored by Space Coast Medicine & Active Living magazine with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2004, the foundation received Florida Today‘s Volunteer Recognition Award as the Organization of the Year.
CCCF continues today to assist thousands of families in their battle against cancer.
