Class of 2014 Graduates From Merritt Island Christian School

Class of 33 students has been offered over $1,000,000 in college scholarships
MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — Merritt Island Christian School held its commencement ceremony for the Class of 2014 in the First Baptist Church Merritt Island Sanctuary on May 16, 2014.
First Baptist Church Merritt Island Pastor Titus Green delivered the keynote address, while MICS Superintendent Dr. Nanci Dettra delivered a charge to the graduates.
The graduating class of 2014 numbered 33 students with 21 graduating with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and 12 of those being a 4.0 or above. Rachel Friend represented the class as Valedictorian, while Kelly Short earned the honor of Salutatorian. To date, nine full-ride college scholarships have been offered to the Class of 2014, with some financial aid award packages still pending.
“I am impressed with the rigor and maturity of this year’s graduates, based on the fact they received over one million dollars in scholarships,” MICS Superintendent Dr. Nanci Dettra said. “I anticipate with excitement where the future will take this outstanding group of young adults.”
Overall, this class of 33 students has been offered over $1,000,000 in college scholarships. MICS graduate, Tommy Williams will attend Stetson University on a full-ride ROTC scholarship. Thirty-two of MICS graduates this year have been accepted to and plan to attend the following colleges and universities: The University of Alabama, Arizona State University, Cedarville University, Eastern Florida State College, Liberty University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Southeastern University, Stetson University, and Trevecca University.
