When Bill Flutie, brother of college and pro football star Doug Flutie, blew out his knee playing baseball, his primary care physician, Dr. Steve Badolato, referred Bill to First Choice Medical Group’s Dr. Tony Lombardo.
“I had a complete tear of the patella tendon,” said Flutie. “My tendon had actually chipped away a piece of the bone from my knee cap, and Dr. Lombardo had to perform a special surgery to repair it. Dr. Lombardo has extensive surgical experience in Sports Medicine, total joint replacement and trauma. He is dual board certified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine, and has practiced orthopaedics in Brevard County since 1989.
He devotes his practice to the treatment of orthopaedic injuries and disease, with an emphasis on sports medicine, adult reconstructive and pediatric orthopaedic surgery.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he also did his surgical internship and went to the University of California, San Francisco, for orthopedic training. Dr. Lombardo has been practicing orthopedics in Brevard County for 25 years advancing, arthroscopic surgical techniques of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Lombardo also has years of experience in total joint replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee. He is available for patients who are looking for an experienced, compassionate orthopedic surgeon who will take time to explain their condition and options to ensure the best outcome possible.
