ABOVE VIDEO: Katharine, a 14-foot great white shark, is tagged by OCEARCH, a non-profit organization devoted to researching apex predators in the ocean. Katharine, who was tagged off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was named by Cat Products fans in honor of Katharine Lee Bates, a Cape Cod native and songwriter – best known for her poem and song “America The Beautiful”, which has been called “an expression of patriotism at its finest.”

REVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Katharine, the 14-foot+ female great white shark must be enjoying the warm waters off the Space Coast as she continues to ping in off the Atlantic coast between Titusville and Cape Canaveral.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – OCEARCH has warned Cape Canaveral that Katharine, a 14-foot+ female great white shark is moving south, “toward your area.”

VOLUSIA COUNTY DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA — A great 2,300 pound white shark was tagged within a few miles of Playlalinda Beach, just east of Titusville. 

According to OCEARCH, a non-profit organization with a global reach for great white shark research, the  great white, named Katharine, is 14 feet long. Katharine traveled from Cape Cod, where she was most recently tagged, to Playalinda Beach, east of Titusville.
