UPDATE: Barricaded Suspect Surrenders

UPDATE: SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police SWAT Team, as well as the Crisis Negotiation Team and resources from Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, were called out today at about 11 a.m. when a Battery suspect barricaded himself inside his residence at 472 Sharon Drive in Melbourne.

Traffic on surrounding neighborhood streets was blocked during the negotiation.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, officers tried to contact Eric Donald Brian, 53, in reference to taking him into custody on suspicion of Battery on Person over 65 years of age.

Brian refused to come out of the residence, but after several hours of negotiations, he surrendered peacefully.

The original offense occurred on May 9, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
