12 Injured In Cargo Net Collapse On Merritt Island

MERRITT ISLAND,FLORIDA – At least 12 people were injured, including teenagers, after a cargo net collapsed at Teen Missions International on Merritt Island.

The group was on the net for a photograph when it gave way.

According to authorities, 12 patients were transported from the incident on Hall Road, one victim by air to Orlando Regional Medical Center, and 11 by ground to Cape Canaveral Hospital.

BCFR-180-12“Earlier this afternoon, Brevard County Fire Rescue transported 11 patients to Health First Cape Canaveral Hospital,” said Health First Vice President of Marketing & Communications Matthew Gerrell. 

“Health First Cape Canaveral was prepared to receive these patients and ensure the highest quality of care possible. The patients all have minor injuries and nine have been discharged with the rest expected to be discharged soon.”
