Game 1: ITALY VS. COSTA RICA – Noon
Both teams are coming off impressive wins in their fist games. Today, they will be looking to punch their tickets to the next round. Costa Rica Star to watch: Joel Campbell: Scored eight goals in pro league play this season. Uruguay stars to watch include Diego Forian and Edinson Canvani. England will be watching and rooting for Italy to score early and often.
Game 2: SWITZERLAND VS. FRANCE – 3 p.m.
Switzerland and France both won their first games. Switzerland defeated Ecuador, 2-1, and France shutout Honduras with a 3-0 victory. Admir Hemedi and Haris Seferovic scored for Switzerland. Other key veterans for the Swiss include Steve Von Bergen and Stephan Lichtsteiner. Many analysts believe Switzerland is talented enough to upset France in later play.
Karim Benzema scored goals vs. Honduras. He will need to deliver another strong offensive performance for France to prevail vs. Switzerland.
GAME 3: HONDURAS VS. ECUADOR
Honduras touts one of the most respected midfielders in Group E: Roger Espinoza.Other key players for Honduras include Wilson Palacios, Maynor Figueroa, Carlo Costly and Jerry Bengston. Ecuador is led by forward Felipe Caicedo, who was once considered to be one of the top socer prospects in the world. His explosive speed and power is complemented by a balanced midfield starring Antonio Valencia, Christian Noboa and Jefferson Montero.
