Encourages Children’s Safety

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Officers with the Cocoa Beach Police Department are on the lookout for young people in the community committing random acts of kindness, goodwill and general safety.

cocoa-beach-pd-180“Operation Chill has been very helpful in allowing officers to connect with kids in the neighborhoods,” said Deputy Chief Steve Patterson, “especially their bike helmets.”

The police department will once again be partnering with 7-Eleven stores this summer to reward kids for their good behavior by handing out “Operation Chill” coupons good for a small free Slurpee.

The program not only permits officers to initiate positive contacts with the community’s youth but also gives them opportunities to positively reinforce good behavior.
