Cocoa Beach’s Mike Yonker Is Preseason All-American

DELAND, FLORIDA – Mike Yonker, a sophomore fullback for the Stetson Hatters, has been named to the comprehensive preseason All-America team for the Football Championship Subdivision by USA College Football.

Yonker was a standout at Cocoa Beach High School where he played fullback, punter and outside linebacker.

Selected as honorable mention All-American for the Hatters, Yonker was chosen by his teammates as a captain for the 2014 season

Last season, Yonkers finished with the highest yards per catch average on the team among the 10 receivers with at least 10 catches. He finished fourth on the squad in total receiving yards despite having just 18 receptions.

To go with the 18 receptions, Yonker had 17 rush attempts on the year and finished fifth on the squad in all-purpose yards. He was also a regular contributor on special teams with five tackles.

Last season he saw action in all 11 games and was named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll. He is a Communications major.

The Hatter’s home opener is scheduled against Florida Tech, at 7 p.m. on Sept. 6.
