Eastern Florida Second In National All-Sports Rankings

EASTERN FLORIDA FINISHED 43RD OVERALL

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College finished 43rd overall and second among Florida colleges in the third annual National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) NATYCAA Cup Standings.

Iowa Western Community College, which won NJCAA Division I national championships in baseball and men’s and women’s soccer and finished second in the final football poll, captured the scholarship college division with 169.5 points.

Eastern Florida tallied 39 points, one less than Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference (FCSAA)  rival Indian River State College, the top Florida finisher.

EFSC-LOGO-180Points were awarded based on a college’s performance in national tournaments. Eastern Florida participated in three – men’s and women’s soccer and men’s golf.

Men’s golf earned 10 points with an 11th-place finish and men’s and women’s soccer earned 14.5 points each based on their finishes in their respective national tournaments.

Fourteen of 23 Florida colleges that compete in the FCSAA amassed points among more than 200 colleges nationwide that scored.

Iowa Western also claimed the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup which combined standings for scholarship, non-scholarship and state association divisions.
