FPL To Shut Off Power To Repair Pole Damaged In Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – At approximately 3 p.m. today, a traffic crash occurred in the 2500 block of West New Haven Avenue, near the Wendy’s. (Map above)

At approximately 3 p.m. today, a traffic crash occurred in the 2500 block of West New Haven Avenue, near the Wendy’s.

As a result of the crash, the telephone pole needs to be replaced.  FPL is advising power will need to be shut off in the vicinity, between Maybeck and Campbell Drive.

FPL estimates 375 customers will be affected, to include businesses and residences and the West Melbourne Police Department is in the process of preparing a Code Red call to the affected areas.

At this time, FPL is preparing to begin the repair but it is unknown exactly what time the repair will begin. It is estimated the power outage will last between 3-5 hours, and police will be on scene as needed for traffic assistance.

The West Melbourne Police Department asks that motorists avoid this area while the work is being performed.
