BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA FLORIDA – The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps participating in the training camp in Cocoa this week successfully graduated Saturday in an inspiring ceremony led by retired Rear Adm. Wayne Justice.

Proud parents, officials, sponsors and friends gathered at the camp located on Jack Moore’s property, just west of Space Coast Honda on State Road 520 in Cocoa.
“I am proud of what has been accomplished here this week with the Sea Cadets camp and we expect great things from these young people in the future,” said Jack Moore, who donated the use of his property for the camp.

“Thank you and congratulations to all those who made this camp possible,” said retired Rear Adm. Justice.
“These young people are our future leaders and these types of programs are invaluable for their growth and development.”
“Many thanks to Mac Travis of Travis Hardware, Southern Rentals, Cocoa Feed & Seed and the Brevard County Sheriff Department for donating to the camp,” said Wyatt Werneth, a driving force behind getting the camp off the ground and successfully completed.
“They were a huge help and we didn’t even have to ask, they just said whatever you need we are here for you.”
Additional camps are being planned for the future.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA FLORIDA – Hand-picked U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps members from all across Florida, aged 10-13, have built a special operations training camp in Cocoa, courtesy of longtime Brevard County resident and businessman Jack Moore.
This is the first operation of its kind where all Florida Sea Cadet units have combined for a special training camp, and Moore of Cocoa has made it all possible with the donation of his property for the youth camp, dubbed the “Jack L. Moore Training Center.”
Moore has long been a supporter of youth events in Brevard as he has sponsored the Space Coast State Fair youth activities for many years.

“Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer, Wyatt Werneth, came to me with this idea to help the youth and it seemed like a great idea,” said Moore.
“After seeing what these young boys and girls have done, I must say that this is a wonderful program that will positively affect these young lives. I’m proud to be a part of it.”
These elite sea cadets are learning special operations field training provided by Navy Seals and other Special Ops groups. The property provided by Moore includes a 40-acre lake that the cadets are using for water operations, like cast and recovery, as well as rescue operations.

“This program is ground-breaking for Sea Cadets and we hope to do many more similar programs here in the future,” said Werneth.
“The kids have responded exceptionally well, and the lessons that they are learning through this program will be of great benefit to them in their future lives.”

The land and large lake was tested for safety by the Brevard County Environmental Health Department in Cocoa and many Brevard-based businesses have helped to make the camp a success including Travis Hardware, Amber Feed and Seed, Cocoa Army Navy, Southern Rentals, Cocoa Fire Department and Holiday Inn in Cocoa. Food by The Tiny Turtle in Cocoa Beach and the Brevard County Sheriffs Work Farm have also lent their support.
The cadets have built everything at the camp themselves including the sign thanking Moore for his support.
