Archer, Cordial Re-Appointed To Supreme Court Task Force

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Eighteenth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Phil Archer and Gail Cordial, Executive Director of Florida Partners in Crisis, have been re-appointed by Chief Justice Jorge Labarga for two-year terms to the Florida Supreme Court Task Force on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issues in the Courts.

The Task Force has three charges for this term including proposed changes to the Baker Act and Marchman Act; designing model components for mental health, drug and veterans courts and; promoting recommendations from the 2009 Transforming Florida’s Mental Health System report.  (Administrative Order AOSC14-46)

Florida Partners in Crisis is a statewide nonprofit advocacy and education organization which supports the creation of treatment diversion and re-entry initiatives such as mental health and drug courts, jail diversion programs and specialized law enforcement training to help reduce the involvement of individuals with mental illnesses and addiction disorders in the criminal justice system.
